About the Regulatory Compliance job
Regulatory compliance is the work of keeping an organization on the right side of the rules it operates under, and proving it. These roles sit where the regulator meets the business: interpreting new requirements, translating them into controls the company can actually run, evidencing them when an examiner asks, and flagging the exposure before it becomes an enforcement action. The field spans financial services, healthcare, life sciences, energy, and increasingly AI, where the EU AI Act and a growing stack of state laws are creating obligations that did not exist two years ago. Employers hire for judgement here more than for memorised rules: the ability to read a regulation, work out what it means for this business, and say so plainly to people who do not want to hear it. Below are current regulatory compliance openings across the market.
BLS put the 2024 median at $78,420. In 2026, market trackers show averages from roughly $99,000 to $120,000, with the top quartile above $160,000. Financial centers and senior governance roles sit at the top of that range.
